The New Brunswick Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is comprised of dedicated and purposeful Sonographers from the province of New Brunswick. We represent Cardiac, Vascular and General ultrasound specialists. The New Brunswick Society is a non profit Society committed to upholding, following and endorsing the professional, national standards of ultrasound practice as set by the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (CSDMS) our professional body. The New Brunswick Society is also committed to supporting and advocating the national standards of ultrasound skills and competence as set by the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) our registry body. The New Brunswick Society supports the accredited ultrasound degree program, based in Halifax and in association with Dalhousie University.
The New Brunswick Society was founded in the late 1980.s to help give Sonographers a chance to meet on an annual basis, to participate in education and business meetings, to accumulate continuing medical education credits and to have a forum where discussion and consultation with fellow Sonographers is encouraged and accepted in the spirit of accord. Membership and participation in the New Brunswick Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is voluntary. We encourage all Sonographers, regardless of specialty, to support and advance their provincial ultrasound Society in its endeavor to promote Canadian registration and clinical skills through CSDMS / CARDUP accredited education programs. We provide annual CME credits and, in the event of provincial legislation or licensing, the means and Sonographers representation (in terms of operator credentialing, patient care quality and public accountability), to the government.
This Society changes and adapts with technology and patient care delivery advancements. We strive to provide our members with current information and support.
